When Vietnam exit visa is issued ?

When people talk about visa, they usually refer to entry visa. But there is another term of visa: exit visa. Generally, the visa that permits you to enter Vietnam also let you exit the country. Nevertheless, in some following case, foreigners won’t be allowed to leave Vietnam unless they have an exit visa.

Case 1: Babies who have foreign passports were born in Vietnam

If your kids were born after you enter Vietnam, it is apparent that they don’t have Vietnamvisa in the passport. As a result, your newborns will be refused to get in airplane until when they have an exit Vietnam visa.

Even so, you have nothing to worry about. Being in this case, the procedure to get exit visa is straightforward. You just need to submit:the child’s original passport and birth certificate. Your spouse’s passport or yours are accepted as well.

After 7 working days, you will receive the passport with the new visa then your family can exit Vietnam without any hassles.

Case 2: Visitors who lose their passports in Vietnam

Losing passport or having it stolen when traveling abroad is not uncommon. This causes not a few troubles and one of them is not being able to come back to their home country as scheduled itinerary.

Since you don’t have passport, you have to apply for a new one prior to obtaining exit visa.

First of all, you have to report your case to the local police then go to your Embassy/Consulate in Vietnam to geta new passport. I do emphasize that you must follow that process to save time and efforts. Many travelers visited the Embassy as soon as they find their passport lost but you can’t do anything there unless you have the police report.

Once you get your new visa, go to Vietnam Immigration Department then submit a file of following documents to obtain for an exit visa.

• Stamped police report
• New passport
• Form NA5 (The form is available at Immigration Department so you can fill in it there)
• Old passport copy with visa (if you have)

Case 3: Travelers who stay in Vietnam over their visa validity

Visa validity is the time that you are granted to stay in Vietnam legally but not everyone has paid well attention to it. As consequence, they may totallyforget aboutthe exit date and overstay in Vietnam. No matter why you are in that situation, accidentally or on purpose, you must obtain an exit visa for Vietnam to leave Vietnam legally.

Thus overstaying visa is illegal, you will have to pay a fine depending on the number of days you are in Vietnam without a valid visa. The longer you stay the more money you spend.

Case 4: Foreign workers who have their temporary resident card collected

When a foreigner worker terminates the work contract with a company, his or her temporary residence card is retrieved or may be cancelled by the company. Having neither temporary resident card nor visa, you had better ask your company for submitting an exit visa to leave Vietnam.

Important notices when getting Vietnam exit visa

• If you have dual nationality, you must apply exit visa with the same one that you use when enter Vietnam.
• Don’t overstay your visa too long as you can be deported and banned to come back Vietnam. You must pay a serious fine as well.
• Exit visa usually has the validity less than 10 days so you should manage to leave Vietnam before it expires.
