The Vietnam Government has issued Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP on visa exemption under the Tourism Stimulus Program for citizens of 12 more countries.
On August 8, 2025, the Government of Vietnam issued Resolution No. 229/NQ-CP under the Tourism Stimulus Program, granting a 45-day visa exemption for citizens of the following countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
According to the resolution, citizens from these nations can enter Vietnam for tourism purposes without a visa, regardless of passport type, for up to 45 days per entry.
The new visa exemption policy will take effect from August 15, 2025, until August 14, 2028. It replaces parts of Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP (dated January 15, 2025), which previously granted visa exemptions to citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland under the same tourism stimulus program.
Also on August 8, 2025, the Vietnam Government issued Decree No. 221/2025/NĐ-CP, introducing a time-limited visa exemption for foreigners belonging to the special category who need priority to serve socio-economic development.
According to Decree No. 221/2025/NĐ-CP, the following categories of foreign nationals are eligible for a temporary visa exemption:

Provincial Party Committee Secretaries
Municipal Party Committee Secretaries
Chairpersons of the People’s Councils of provinces and centrally-run cities

5. Scholars, experts, scientists, professors from universities and research institutes, chief engineers, and high-quality digital technology industry personnel.
6. Investors, corporate executives, and leaders of major global enterprises.
7. Individuals active in the fields of culture, arts, sports, and tourism who have a positive public influence.

The Vietnam government emphasizes that expanding visa exemptions will attract more European visitors and foster tourism growth. Meanwhile, the targeted exemptions aim to bring in top-tier talent, high-value investors, and globally recognized figures, contributing to building a dynamic, globally competitive economy.
