This article provides some questionable points regarding Vietnam tourist vs business visa such as purposes, requirements, procedure, visa fee, processing time and length of stay for each category. If you are one of those interested, this guidance willhelp.

PURPOSE:

Vietnam Tourist Visa (DL) is granted for those intending to travel to Vietnam for tourism purposes such as tourism and sightseeing; vacation; visiting with family or friends; attending social events or short-tem studies.
Vietnam Business Visa (DN) is granted for those planning to travel to Vietnam for business-related purposes including attending a professional conference or convention; making investments or business purchases, negotiating contracts or setting estates; research or lecturing; engaging in commercial or trade activities.
However, sometimes the purposes of visit to Vietnam do not really matter. These two kinds of visa can be used interchangeably in some cases: in case of short business trips less than 3 months, travelers could apply either business visa or tourist visa. In this case, tourist visa might be preferred for lower price. However, in case of longer duration of business trip, which is more than 3 months, travelers should apply for a business visa.

REQUIREMENTS:

For both categories of visa: tourist and business visa, it is required that travelers should have their passports remaining valid at least 6 months counted from the proposed date of arrival (as registered online in Vietnam visa application form)
Also keep in mind that in some special cases, the applicants may be requested to submit some another documents for tourist visa (round-way flight ticket, hotel reservation) or business visa (Invitation letter from your business partner in Vietnam if sponsored by them)

These are some simple steps that Vietnam Tourist Visa/ Business Visa applicants should follow to apply for their own visa.

Step 4: Get Vietnam visa stamp on arrival

As landing at any of Vietnam International Airports (Noi Bai/ Tan Son Nhat/ Da Nang/ Cam Ranh/ Cat Bi), please head to the Landing Visa Counter to present your original passport, visa approval letter, 2 passport sized photos, the Vietnamese visa application form (formally known as the entry and exit form) and stamping fee in cash to get your visa stamped.

VIETNAM VISA FEE

With regards to visa fee, there is a major difference between tourist visa and business visa. Generally, tourist visa fee is lower than business visa’s. Due to this fact, many travelers who go to Vietnam for business purposes in the long term apply for tourist visas. At first glance, they seem to benefit from good prices. However, fees for tourist visa extension/renewal are actually much higher than fees of business visa alone.
Additionally, the maximum duration for extension is only 3 months if you are currently staying on tourist visa. In case of failure to extend tourist visas, visitors are required to leave Vietnam, which means that visitors might incur unexpected travel expenses and fees for visa renewal. In other words, when it comes to stay for business purposes for more than 3 months, it is advisable that travelers apply for business visa.
Vietnam Tourist visa and Vietnam business visa fees share a similarity: each kind of visa consists of service fee and stamping fee. However, service fee would vary depending on travel agencies and kinds of visa. In the meantime, stamping fee for both kinds is fixed and controlled by the Vietnam Government.
