What is loose-leaf visa?

Loose-leaf visa or paper visa is one special form of visa issued in the separate piece of paper, not pasted into your passport. You are granted this visa before or after landing at any Vietnamese ports depending on the different cases.

The difference between loose leaf visa and regular visa (sticker visa).

Firstly, regular visa is stamped on a page of passport whereas loose-leaf visa is issued separately from passport (a paper 5x7 in size) that includes full of personal information such as photo, name, date of birth, passport number, nationality, and the duration of stay in Vietnam.
Secondly, regarding the applicable objects of applying for visa, sticker visa is offered for all nationalities and citizens excepting for 4 special cases which loose-leaf visa is issued, they will be mentioned in the below section.

Who are allowed to get loose-leaf visa?

When it comes to granting Vietnam visa, it is not really common to issue loose-leaf visa but only for these notable circumstances:
1. Passport holders have no more blank pages
If you often travel abroad and have to apply for a visa, your passport will run out of blank pages. In that case, you will be granted a loose-leaf visa.
2.Diplomatic, defense or security reasons
These are special cases because under the direction of the Vietnam Immigration department, competent officials are determined not to stamp the visa on passports that are sensitive to diplomatic, defense or security issue. Instead, passport holders will be issued a separate visa.
3. Citizensthe country that doesn’t has any diplomatic relations with Vietnam
Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with many countries in the world. However, there are still a number of countries and territories that do not have diplomatic relations with Vietnam. Hence, the visa will be issued separately, not on the passport of that country.
4. Peopleholding valid document for international travel
International travel document means a document issued by a competent authority of a country to stateless persons residing in that country and approved by a Vietnamese competent authority.
People without nationality cannot be granted passports, so they use documents with international travel value. This type of paper does not have a page to paste a visa, so visas can be issued separately in this case.

No matter what type of visa you apply for, you need to meet the following essential requirements
