How to travel from Thailand to Vietnam

Vietnam currently has many international airport from the north to the south offering an abundance of flight routes between Thailand and Vietnam. Noi Bai international airport (Hanoi) and Tan Son Nhat airport (Ho Chi Minh City) are the two biggest travel hubs in Vietnam operating many flights of airlines: Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and some others.
The flying time from Thailand to Vietnam is generally 1h20’ non-stop flight. This time may change a bit depending on each airline.
Travel by ROAD
To get Vietnam from Thailand by road, you have two main routes:
- Thailand – Cambodia –Vietnam: get into the south Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh city)
- Thailand – Laos – Vietnam get to the north Vietnam (Hanoi)
You will choose to reach to the one of two landing borders: Moc Bai (from Cambodia) and Cau Treo (from Laos) by some modes of transportation such as: bus, private car, motorbike.
• If you go on foot, you don’t need to bring a long any paperwork. You just reach to the border and get a stamp inside your passport to continue your trip.
• If you use your motorcycle, register you vehicle is required and requirements are:
- The vehicle registration certificate (available English, no need to translate)
- Your driving license
- Vehicle insurance

From Thailand to Hanoi (the north of Vietnam)
Cau Treo border
• The price for a straight bus is pretty expensive and it may vary depending on the number of passengers
• If you choose a transit ticket that will travel from Thailand to Laos, then Laos to Vietnam, you will pay from $24 to $26.
From Thailand to Ho Chi Minh City (the south of Vietnam)
Moc Bai border
• The charge for a straight ticket is over $50
• The price from Thailand to Cambodia is around $20 - $22 and from Cambodia to Vietnam is $10.
