How to travel from Cambodia to Vietnam
The Southern Asia has been becoming more popular to tourists from all over the world and they regularly take trips from the country to another. They likely spend a couple of weeks to discover every corner of the continent.
Cambodia is a small country having border with Vietnam to the east. So if you are in Cambodia and want to make your trip to Vietnam, this article will guide you how to get Vietnam from Cambodia.
Travel by AIR
You will find many flights from Cambodia to Vietnam from two main international airport that are Phnom Penh International Airport and Siem Reap International Airport.
From both international airports, you can travel to Vietnam through a lot of international airlines such as: Cambodia Angkor Air, Vietnam Airlines, Qatar Airway and Malaysia Airlines. Please note that a Vietnam visa is required to board the plane (except for citizens of some certain countries enjoying a Vietnam visa exemption).
If you choose a non-stop flight that takes 3h30’ to get to Hanoi from Cambodia and just 1 hour to get Ho Chi Minh City. A direct flight will take more time. Besides, you can take a four-hour flight to Phu Quoc Island that is a great retreat in Vietnam.
Travel by ROAD
There is no train serving route from Cambodia to Vietnam. If you want to travel to Vietnam by overland, you can choose one of following 4 landing border checkpoints:
- Bavet/ Moc Bai
- Phnom Den / Tinh Bien
- Prek Chak / Xa Xia
- Le Thanh / O Yadao crossing

There are daily buses running everyday between both countries and every trip will take around 6 hours. A bus ticket can be bought at terminal right at the landing border. However, it is highly recommended that you should buy a ticket well in advance to make sure to secure your seat.

If you are citizen from some countries entitled Vietnam visa-free entry, you don’t need to prepare any document in advance. You just need to bring your passport, then you will receive a stamp allowing to enter Vietnam easily.
Vietnam visa on arrival
Your visa submission will be done online. You need to find a reliable travel agency that guide you required paperwork and process your visa. Then a Vietnam visa letter will be sent to you via email in case it is approved. Print and bring your visa letter with some other documents to travel to Vietnam.
