Important notes for getting Vietnam visa on arrival

1. Passport validity

Validity of your passport is very important because you cannot apply for a Vietnam visa if your passport is going to expired soon. Please make sure that your passport must maintain its validity forat least 6 month since the date you enter Vietnam. In case you can not renew your passport, you should check with the airline prior to applying for the visaas some airlinesmay not let you get on board if your passport is not valid for 6 months.

2. Transportation

Vietnam visa on arrival is only applicable for those who visit Vietnam by air asyou just can pick up your stamped visa with the approval letter at Vietnam international airport. If you take other means of transportsuch as: bus, boat, cruise ...ect., you can not get the visa let alone entering Vietnam. In such cases, it is preferable for you toget your Vietnam visa done at Vietnam Embassy/Consulate before heading to Vietnam.

3. The validity of visa approval letter

Bear in mind that your visa approval letter will be valid since the arrival date you register on the application form not the day you enter Vietnam.Take an example, if you apply for a one-month tourist visa and submit your arrival date as Feb 20th, 2019, the visa letter will keep validfrom Feb 20th, 2019 to March 20th, 2019 and you must enter Vietnam during that time.

Also please note that the approval letter cannot be amended once it is issued. If you wish to arrive earlier than the date stated on the approval letter, you are required to apply for a new approval letter. Hence, when applying for Vietnam visa on arrival,if you don't have an exact enter date, choose the one that is the earliest one you want to visit Vietnam.

4. Time to apply for Vietnam visa online.

Generally, the visa approval letter takes 2 working days to be issued by the Vietnamese Immigration Department. However, it is advisable for you to submit for the visa online at least 1-2 weeks before your trip to Vietnam so that you can avoid the last-minute issues and have enough time to correct unwanted mistakes.

5. Online payment

Before applying for a visa on arrival to Vietnam, make sure that you can make the payment online. Your visa application will not be process unless you make the payment for visa service fee which is the fee to get visa approval letter issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department. There are many payment methods for you to choose such as using Paypal account, Western Union, Bank Transfer, etc.

6. Photos

When landing in Vietnam you will need to submit 2 passport-sized photos to stamp your visa so don’t forget to prepare them prior to your departure. In case you forget that, you can still take photo at airport but the fee is quite high, about 2USD for each photo.
