Since February 2017, the Vietnam Government has offered VietnamE-visa for USA citizens who wish to travel and stay up 30 days in Vietnam. This privileged visa scheme allows USA travelers to quickly access immigration line instead of waiting in visa section at the airport or the land or seaport.

Upload your passport date page and photo on the official E-visa website, then fill in the form with your personal details.
Pay E-Visa fee with a valid credit card and receive your invoice confirmation
After 3 working days, go to the “E-visa search” tab and enter your verification code, birth of date and email to download your e visa confirmation

The cost of E-visa is totally 25USD which is online paid with your credit card at the time of submitting your application in the government website. This amount is not included the bank charges taken by you (around 1usd).
Apart from the government fee of 25 USD, you do not need to pay any additional fee upon arrival.
Keep in mind that USA travelers have to receive E-visa document online before departure to Vietnam. The application normally takes 3 working days to process, however you should start to submit your application at least 2 weeks prior to your trip.

Payment portal does not work well with all kind of credit cards. For example, American Express is not be accepted to make payment through this portal. Furthermore, the other methods such as Western Union or Bank Transfer is not the thing you can choose as well. Therefore, you need to use a valid International Credit/Master Card to pay the visa fee.
You don’t receive any email to confirm on each step you go through the whole visa process. Hence, it is very imperative to screenshot your registration code that is given to you because you use it take check your visa application later on.
Also, there is no notification about the E-visa approval delivered through your email as you might expect. So, what you need to do is access the official E-visa website again and enter your registration code, email and date of birth in order to check the visa status and download your E-visa if approved.

Vietnam E-visa is valid up to 30 days for USA nationals whether they enter through land, sea or air. It can be also extendable while the e visa holders are in Vietnam. It is very essential to keep in mind that Vietnam E-visa become valid for the period of 30 days since your entry date put on the application.
In general, the whole process of applying E-visa is very straightforward and easy.
