1/Obtaining Vietnam visa at Vietnam airport

Nowadays, getting Vietnam visa upon arrival at the airport is more preferred and trusted by travelers who are visiting Vietnam by airplane due to its legitimacy, simplicity and convenience. With applying this type, the only document which a visa applicant needs is visa approval letter beforehand, issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department – the solely issuing authority in Vietnam, and then flying to any International Airports in Vietnam (Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Nha Trang) to pick up visa. Visa applicant just simply follows 3 steps to get Vietnam visa upon arrival:
Step 1: Fill out required information of applicant including full-name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, arrival date, exit date, type of visa at Vietnam visa application form online. Visa service fee has to be paid after completing online visa application form.
Step 2: Receive a pre visa approval letter by email after a certain period of time (2 working days for tourist visa or 5-7 working days for business visa). Be importantly noted that visa approval letter must be printed out and taken along Vietnamese visa application form, 2 passports sized photos, stamping fee in cash.
Step 3: Present all documents as mentioned above in step 2, to the Immigration Officer at the Vietnam International Airport in order to get Vietnam visa stamped.

2/Getting Vietnam visa through land border

Any travelers wish to enter Vietnam by road-crossing from Cambodia, Laos or China; they can get Vietnam visa issued at land border. This type is also known as Vietnam Visa Run, when foreigners want to exit Vietnam and re-enter through land border, not via the airport. To apply for Vietnam visa issued at the border, applicant also has to obtain a visa approval letter – issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department. After a certain processing time depending on each type of visa, an original visa approval letter is received through post or collected in person. Along with the original document, official passport, 02 passport sized photo, completed Vietnamese visa application form (collected at border) are submitted at entering land border of Vietnam.
